THE CHINESE MEDICINE HOSPITAL OF HONG KONG

The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong (CMHHK) is a flagship Chinese medicine (CM) institution leading the development of CM including Chinese medicines (CMs) in Hong Kong. The CMHHK adopts a public-private partnership model. The HKSAR Government has financed the construction and selected the Hong Kong Baptist University as the contractor to incorporate the HKBU Chinese Medicine Hospital Company Limited as the operator to manage, operate and maintain the CMHHK.

The CMHHK is targeted to commence hospital services by phases at the end of 2025. The CMHHK aims to offer comprehensive CM care, ranging from primary, secondary to tertiary services, and promote advanced and specialised CM services.The CMHHK will pioneer integrated Chinese-western medicine (ICWM) services to cater to different patient needs.Inpatient, day-patient, and outpatient treatments and also community services will be offered by the CMHHK. Both Government-subsidised services and add-on market-oriented services will be provided to ensure accessibility and to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the community.

With a view to prioritising education, training, innovation and research, including collaboration with local and overseas universities to advance evidence-based clinical research and develop CM theories and clinical applications, the CMHHK is now looking for the following talent to join our team.

System Analyst (Systems) (24250112)

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of IT and Deputy Head of IT, the Systems Analyst (Systems) will be responsible for the administration, management, and monitoring of servers, storage systems, databases, and virtualisation platforms. 

  • System Architecture Design: Collaborate with the Systems Analyst (Infrastructure) to ensure seamless integration of systems within the existing infrastructure, focusing on robust and scalable architecture design;
  • Server Virtualisation & Administration: Work closely with the Systems Analyst (Infrastructure) to deploy and manage virtualisation technologies, optimising resource utilisation and ensuring high availability;
  • Storage & Database System Architecture: Partner with the Systems Analyst (Infrastructure) to design and implement efficient storage and database solutions;
  • Active Directory Administration: Manage and maintain Active Directory services, including user accounts, group policies, and security settings;
  • Exchange Server Administration: Manage and maintain on-premises Exchange Server services, including creating user mailboxes and distribution groups;
  • System Monitoring: Coordinate with the Systems Analyst (Infrastructure) and the Systems Analyst (Cybersecurity) to implement comprehensive monitoring solutions;
  • Capacity Planning: Perform capacity planning and performance analysis to support future growth and scalability;
  • Business Continuity Design & Disaster Recovery Planning: Lead the efforts in developing and maintaining disaster recovery plans, working alongside the Systems Analyst (Infrastructure) and Manager (IT) to ensure business continuity and data protection;
  • Collaboration with the Manager (Information Technology): Support the Manager (Information Technology) in leveraging the Business intelligence System for operational and management reporting, contributing insights from system performance and architecture perspectives to enhance data analytics effort;
  • Technical Guidance: Provide expertise and technical guidance to various IT stakeholders, fostering a collaborative environment and promoting best practices in system architecture and management;
  • On-Call Duties: Occasionally provide on-call duties to address urgent IT issues; and
  • Compliance: Ensure all IT operations comply with relevant internal and external regulations, standards, and policies, including data governance policies.

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related disciplines;
  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience in IT with a minimum of 6 years of experience in hands-on system administration, preferably in a healthcare setting;
  • Professional certifications such as MCSA, MCSE, VCP, and ITIL are advantageous;
  • Experience in roles such as Enterprise Architect, Solution Architect, Solution Consultant, System Administration Manager, or similar roles with a strong foundation in technical execution and strategic design and planning, aligning with the need for robust system architecture and business continuity design;
  • Strong knowledge of server and storage technologies, including SAN, NAS, and RAID configurations, critical for storage and database system architecture;
  • Proficiency in database administration (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and experience with database performance tuning and optimisation, supporting system monitoring and performance analysis;
  • Experience with virtualisation platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) and high availability technologies;
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds) and system performance analysis;
  • Proven experience in disaster recovery planning and implementation, ensuring robust business continuity strategies;
  • Solid understanding of ITIL processes and procedures, with practical application in diverse IT environments, supporting process alignment and efficiency; and
  • An excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua).

The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract ending in December 2025. Subject to performance and the decision of the CMHHK, the offer of further appointment, if any, will be made by the CMHHK.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test. 

Work location: Kowloon Tong Campus and will be moved to The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong in Tseung Kwan O when close to commissioning.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
