The Technological and Higher Education Institute of Hong Kong (THEi) is a member institute of the Vocational Training Council (VTC), established in 2012. It is an innovative, professional and entrepreneurial organisation committed to greening and sustainability. THEi offers more than 20 professional "Applied Science-Oriented" degree programmes across six Academic Departments: Department of Food and Health Sciences, Department of Construction, Environment and Engineering, Department of Sport and Recreation, Department of Hospitality and Business Management, Department of Design and Architecture, and Department of Digital Innovation and Technology. These programmes cover industries with growth potential in Hong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region. The programmes integrate practical applications with theoretical knowledge to ensure that students can effectively apply what they have learned. Our degree programmes are accredited by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications, as well as by the relevant professional bodies where appropriate. By adopting an applied Science-Oriented teaching approach and focusing on applied Bachelor's degree programmes, THEi equips students with professional skills and knowledge to meet various future challenges upon graduation. THEi also collaborates closely with the industry and engage students in active learning pedagogies including a strong emphasis on project-based learning involving real-world problem-solving with and for local industries and professions.

Major Duties:
(a)To oversee the setting up of facilities and services for the Department;
(b)To be responsible for the management of various teaching facilities such as handcraft engineering workshops, photographic studios, computer graphics studios, computer laboratories, and support-related services;
(c)To provide technical support and guidance to staff and students in teaching & learning and research-related activities;
(d)To supervise the installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance of equipment and apparatus;
(e)To assist in demonstrations and laboratory or practical classes and projects;
(f)To coordinate the procurement of consumables, equipment and systems;
(g)To maintain inventory records and prepare store and equipment estimates; and
(h)To oversee and enforce the overall safety regulations in the designated areas of the Department, and ensure cleanliness and tidiness of the operating areas.
Requirements:
(a)A recognised diploma or a higher certificate in relevant disciplines;
(b)At least two years’ relevant work experience;
(c)Proficiency in various common operating systems, office software and computer-aided design system, preferably with specific craftsmanship and experience in computer controlled hardware;
(d)Good knowledge of operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of computer hardware and networking, and audio/ visual equipment;
(e)Experience / knowledge / skills in some of the following areas will be advantage:
(i)Adminstration of Windows and Linux servers;
(ii)Microsoft, Adobe CC, Autodesk, ArcGIS, 3D Design, and other common computer (Windows and Mac) / educational software;
(iii)LAN / WAN technology and TCP / IP;
(iv)Website development and web programming using languages such as PHP, ASP and HTML;
(v)Drone operation;
(vi)AutoCAD and Building Information Modelling (BIM) software, e.g. REVIT; and
(vii)Operation of laser cutting and paper cutting machine, plotter and 3D printer.
(f)Ability to work independently and be a good team player; and
(g)Good interpersonal and communication skills in English and Chinese.
Notes:
(1)The appointee may be required to perform duties at different sites and work irregular hours, shifts and on Saturdays and Sundays as necessary.
(2)The remuneration package will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
(3)Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend and pass a skills test.
(4)The appointee will work at Chai Wan Campus.
