OBI Group Sourcing is the sourcing unit for the OBI Group in Asia. Its key responsibility is the scouting, sourcing, quality assurance as well as organising the corresponding logistics for products sourced in Asia. Beside the main offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai , an additional representative office is located in Ho Chi Minh City .

Responsibilities:

Sustainable Packaging Development

• Develop and implement sustainable packaging solutions that align with company goals and industry standards.
• Evaluate and recommend sustainable materials for product development and packaging, considering environmental impact, cost, and performance.
• Conduct research on emerging trends in sustainable materials and packaging technologies, recommending innovative solutions for product enhancement.
• Stay updated on regulatory requirements and industry standards related to sustainability, ensuring that products meet all necessary guidelines.
   

Packaging Management and Implementation

• Manage packaging projects and timelines, ensuring efficient and timely completion.
• Implement and control product packaging policies and quality standards across all business units and supplier factories.
• Provide technical advice to suppliers on resolving packaging issues and implementing sustainable practices.
• Develop and deliver technical outputs such as packaging specifications, technical drawings, and packing instructions.
   

Data Management and Reporting

• Oversee packaging material data collection and reporting, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Develop and maintain a packaging material database in an accurate, traceable, structural, and timely manner.
• Support in producing internal and external sustainability reports.
   

Collaboration and Communication

• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including product sourcing, quality assurance, artwork team, ESG team and suppliers, to ensure sustainability practices are integrated throughout the product lifecycle.
• Provide consultation and technical support on recyclability, light weighting, recycled content, and existing company requirements to suppliers.
• Prepare presentation materials for meetings and training materials.
   

Training and Development

• Provide training and guidance to internal teams on sustainable practices and materials, fostering a culture of sustainability within the organization.
• Educate suppliers on sustainable packaging requirements and best practices.
   

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in packaging sustainability, packaging engineering, environmental science, material science or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in packaging development, packaging engineering, or sustainability roles.
• Experience in the sourcing, retail or manufacturing industry.
• Knowledge of packaging technologies and materials, sustainability principles and the best practices.
• Project management, organizational skills, data analysis, and problem-solving abilities are essential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across various teams.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English, Cantonese and Mandarin.
• Proficiency in office suite software, like MS office, Google Workspace etc.
