Job Description:
Major Accountabilities
Systematically analyze the landscape of Sun Life’s wealth management businesses in Asia and provide strategic plans to the President of Asia Asset Management.
Drive the implementation of wealth management growth strategies and create significant financial contribution to Sun Life Asia’s revenue.
Lead wealth management product design to meet customers’ needs.
Assist President of Asia Asset Management in designing and implementing wealth management’s risk management framework; and be responsible for the on-going risk monitoring and management.
Working with local business units to conduct analysis across the Asian markets and design effective business models for the Non-General Account investments.
Liaise between affiliated global investment functions and local business units to help promote Sun Life’s global product proposition.
Work with key stakeholder to develop the governance and risk management framework for the Asian non-GA businesses
Be the interface of regional office with local BUs on wealth management related issues.
Preferred Skills And Specialized Knowledge
Deep technical understanding of wealth management strategies, non-General Account investments, investment approaches, strengths and weaknesses of the proposition.
Deep understanding the retail insurance market, including client drivers, expectations, the product development process and the resultant investment tasks.
Specific understanding of the competitive landscape across the region and ability to concisely interpret implications for the business and investments, including future trends
Strong influencing, communication and active listening skills and a desire to convince based on facts and demonstrated improvement.
This position needs to influence global leaders such as the Global CIO, the Heads of Risk, Compliance and other first and second line functions
The internal environment this role will function in is complex, ambiguous, empowered and opaque. Strong networking and relationship management skills are essential for success.
Analytical/problem solving skills, with a logical thought process – to sort, analyse and interpret large amounts of qualitative and quantitative information and data.
Strong business acumen and the ability to work with multi-disciplinary stakeholders and interest groups to achieve agreed and shared outcomes
Capable of developing and maintaining deep technical dialogues with a wide range of stakeholders across the Asia region
Strong multi-disciplinary workshopping skills to work through complexity and build co-owned improved outcomes.
Strong capabilities in excel and database applications
Qualifications (heading) / Compétences (titre)
Master’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, or Economics, or Bechalor’s degree with extensive senior management experience such as Chief Investment Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, etc.
12+ years of experience in ALM, insurance investments, with extensive experience in client services and corporate governance. CFA, CPA, or Certified Actuary.
