Position Purpose 

• To support Electronic Markets Business projects implementation and daily BAU support 

Key Responsibilities

Direct Responsibilities 

• Coordinate and work on UNIX infrastructure projects in APAC data centres and colocations 

a. Server capacity planning and deployment 

b. System configuration, customization, optimization, and upgrade 

c. System resilience strategy and implementation 

• Reduced latency resulting in improved fill ratios for traders. 

• Reduction in number and severity of System related incidents 

• UNIX patching automation to comply with Group IT Security Standard 

Essential Technical Knowledge / Skills 

• Solid understanding of operating system RedHat/Linux 

• IT Security and SSO tools on ArcSight, CyberArk, Centrify – plus  

• System patching tools on RedHat Satellite  

• Strong architecture knowhow on IBM & HP Blade, p-Series, i-Series and x-Series  

• Ability to write scripts in common administrative languages (shell, perl, python or etc)  

• Complementary knowledge of scripting/automation/diagnostic software and tools  

• Good knowledge of Equity and high-frequency trading (HFT) business on 10GbE technology  

• Perform production support for critical Linux server platform in a fast pace environment 

• Provide direct user support and address system related requests in front office trading floors

• Server x86 hardware and Linux performance fine-tuning and monitoring 

• RHEL in-depth troubleshooting, problem management and root cause analysis 

• OS / server provisioning, standardization, and policy control in a regional basis 

• Support roster on morning shift, holiday, and weekend are required 

• Occasional travel in APAC for data center projects

Competencies (Technical / Behavioural) 

• Experienced in system administration in Linux / RHEL for trading or business application environment 

• In-depth knowledge of operating system, process, and kernel 

• Familiar with x86 hardware, server networking peripherals, and data center setup 

• Good knowledge of scripting language (Bash, Python, Perl) and system tools to quickly formulate solutions 

• Familiar with technical troubleshooting, system recovery, root cause analysis and remediation which involves 

coordination of vendors and remote technical staffs 

• Provide support to X Window, Linux desktop software, and end-user equipment to local and remote users 

• Ability to provide balanced and quality advice, analysis, and guidance to application teams and business 

users on issues and requests 

• Good IT aptitude that comply with ITIL framework (Incident Management, Change Management) 

• Excellent time management skills  

Specific Qualifications Required 

• Degree in Information Technology related discipline, preferably with RHEL certificates 

• At least 7 year experience in IT role of which 5 year experience as a UNIX SA or engineer 

• At least 3 year experience of working in a multi-national IT environment with strong background in service 

delivery and production support for critical systems 

• Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills to interact efficiently with team members, other support 

teams, and remote technical staffs such as data center smart-hands 

• Previous experience in an investment banking-focus business is highly appreciated 

• Fluency in English
