Sparkmate
Apply Now

Sparkmate is a tribe of fearless makers, solving the world’s most pressing problems with hard tech and industrial solutions. Originally an engineering services company, we have pivoted to focus on developing electric steel production technology. Our goal is to transform the $1.5T global steel industry through the complete electrification of primary ironmaking, eliminating reliance on fossil fuels and driving industrial decarbonization at scale.

We are looking for makers, builders, and innovators who are ready to turn this vision into reality.

About the Job

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist with industry experience and a passion for hands-on fabrication, prototyping, and assembly to join our team. You’ll play a key role in producing precision CNC parts, assembling prototypes, and constructing frames and structures for our cutting-edge prototypes and pilot production line.

If you thrive in a hands-on environment, love working with machines and materials, and want to build the future of industrial tech, we want to hear from you! At Sparkmate, you’ll join a dynamic, flat-hierarchy, and fun team tackling real-world challenges and advancing breakthrough low-temperature electrolysis technology.

This role is all about making things happen—turning designs into reality with your machining and assembly expertise.

What You’ll Do
  • Set up, operate, and maintain CNC machines (mills, lathes, etc.) to produce high-precision parts for prototypes and pilot production.
  • Fabricate components from metals, plastic polymers, and other materials based on technical drawings and CAD files.
  • Assemble prototypes, including mechanical systems, electrochemical cells, and structural frames for testing and production setups.
  • Build and assemble frames and structures to support prototype development and pilot production lines.
  • Collaborate with engineers to refine designs for manufacturability and troubleshoot machining or assembly issues.
  • Use manual tools, 3D printers, and other fabrication equipment to iterate designs and support rapid prototyping.
  • Inspect finished parts for quality and accuracy, ensuring they meet tight tolerances and specifications.
  • Assist in maintaining and optimizing shop equipment and tools to keep production running smoothly.
  • Work with hydraulic systems and fluid control setups as needed for prototype assemblies.
  • Contribute ideas to improve processes, tools, and setups as project needs evolve.

What We’re Looking For
  • Proven experience operating CNC machines (e.g., mills, lathes) and producing precision parts.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files (e.g., SolidWorks, Fusion 360).
  • Hands-on expertise in assembling mechanical systems, prototypes, or structural frames.
  • Familiarity with materials like metals and plastic polymers, and their properties in machining and assembly.
  • Comfortable using manual tools, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments for quality control.
  • Experience with 3D printing or other prototyping tools is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptability to changing project needs and willingness to learn new skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for craftsmanship.
  • English is mandatory; Cantonese/Mandarin not required but highly appreciated.
  • A degree or certification in machining, mechanical technology, or a related field is a bonus, but hands-on experience is key.

It’s okay if you don’t have it all—we value skills and enthusiasm!

Why Join Us?
  • Be part of a young, dynamic, and international team of makers.
  • Work in a hands-on environment where your contributions shape the future.
  • Flat hierarchy with trust, ownership, and continuous learning.
  • Daily team lunches.
  • Rocking Fridays (Team Building) every 5th week.
  • Healthcare coverage.
  • 25+ holidays per year.
  • Salary 24,000-34,000 HKD per month depending on experience.

Start Date & Location
  • Start Date: May 1, 2025, or sooner.
  • Location: 1 Kin Hong St, Kwai Chung, Hong Kong.
