An LFX digital venture, Air8 is building an insight-based technology platform that capitalizes on Li & Fung’s ecosystem with more than 118 years of supply chain experience, connecting suppliers, buyers, and funders in over 50 markets. Air8’s goal is to combine supply chain insights with financing expertise and digital technologies to provide trade finance solutions to SME exporters. Air8’s vision is to promote sustainable financing while bridging the supply chain working capital gap.
The candidate’s primary objective is to originate and close trade finance opportunities with HK-based SME exporters, and contribute to Air8’s asset, revenue, and client base growth. The candidate will be expected to achieve the objectives by tapping into Li & Fung’s SME supplier base, identifying receivables financing opportunities and selling Air8 solutions to such SME prospects. The candidate is expected to understand fundamental credit risk principles to properly qualify sales leads, and have ability to relationship-build with and pitch/sell to SME business customers.
Key Responsibilities
Understand and map out opportunity landscape within Li & Fung’s supplier base, prospect & call on suppliers to explore their working capital requirements, pitch financing solutions and convert sales leads into business earnings.
Work with other Sales Managers to build and maintain ongoing sales pipeline for HK team, ensuring leads are effectively progressing through various sales stages and continue to be replenished. Support other Sales Managers (where required) to close out opportunities.
Develop & build internal relationships with Li & Fung merchandisers to effectively originate and manage sales opportunities.
Distribute originated trade finance assets with banks and other FI’s.
Address day-to-day business process matters associated with customer requirements, manage customer relationships to ensure smooth and excellent customer experience.
Provide timely market feedback to Air8 internal team to facilitate any improvement in Air8’s product/service offering.
Be a brand ambassador to actively promote Air8’s presence in HK.
Requirements
Minimum 8 years of working experience in a sales capacity within financial services industry. Customer facing experience is critical, with proven ability to pitch/sell financial products and build customer relationships. Knowledge of credit risk and trade finance is desirable.
Proven experience in identifying, generating, and following through on sales leads. Able to build and manage an ongoing sales pipeline, with track record in delivering against sales objectives.
Strong interpersonal skills to develop working relationships with internal Li & Fung colleagues and external customers/prospects.
Inquisitive and curious, show genuine interest in other parties’ business in order to effectively uncover pain points, understand customer considerations, pitch effective solutions and offer workarounds in event of conflict.
Team player – supports wider HK business team objectives in spite of personal deliverables; demonstrated ability to work across functions (credit risk, legal, compliance, etc.) to achieve win-win outcomes.
Written and spoken English is a must. Cantonese/Mandarin speaking ability is desirable.
