Position Overview

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Accountability

  • In partnership with the Regional team (including the direct report in Mainland China), Regional Partners and Group Technology, develop Technology strategies and roadmap to support the Company’s growth opportunities
  • Communicate to the Chief Technology Officer and the Leadership Team an understanding, assessment and mitigation strategies of Technology risks (including Cyber and PII Risks) associated with the Company’s growth strategy
  • Be an advocate for innovation. Set visionary goals and develop new advanced ways to deliver exceptional service and support
  • Influence the technology of Regional Partners to help meet business needs in the near to medium term
  • Ensure Vendors are managed to established SLA standards and implement reporting for tracking progress and quality.
  • Define a longer-term migration strategy and timescale to an owned technology stack in due course

Operational Excellence

  • Drive operational efficiencies to maximize commercial benefits while ensuring that the end user experience and ensure service levels are achieved or exceeded
  • Ensure optimal utilization of resources to meet project deliverables
  • Accountable for continuously optimizing the overall operational costs and footprint
  • Facilitates audits working closely with various supporting departments
  • Sure privacy standards are met and collaborate closely with Group IT for continued monitoring of threat landscape
  • Institutes select components of ITIL where necessary for Operational Management
  • Responsible for creating and managing Service Level Agreements (SLAs) between each party
  • Ensure departmental objectives are met by interacting regularly across all functional areas including senior management and executives
  • Support internal and external Audits. Deliver timely remediation to audit findings

Financial Management and Control Environment

  • Ensure that there is a robust understanding of departmental financial budgets and forecasts and develop such models as necessary to identify, manage and plan short, medium and long term cost trends in the function
  • Oversee Technology operating and (if appropriate) capital budgets, ensuring new costs are accurately captured, quarterly updates are provided in a timely manner
  • Report potential or suspected violations of the Code of Ethics and Business Conduct and Sarbanes Oxley Controls to the Leadership team; reporting any such violation that relates to auditing and financial matters to the Audit Committee of the Board.

Team Leadership

  • Mentor, coach and develop the team to ensure effective communication, continuous learning, teamwork and skills to support the business
  • Establish and promote a Technology culture and attitude that is proactive and raises the confidence level of the user community
  • Create a training program to onboard, train and continuously evaluate new employees
  • Carry out performance appraisals and evaluations as required
  • Provide issue escalation & resolution and assist with resource decisions
  • Ensure effective utilization of staff, including oversight of an on-demand workforce, to meet project priorities/scale and service levels
  • Establish and maintain regular operational performance reporting
  • Ensure that the Technology Support team has the necessary motivation, tools and skills and to manage production in a highly available global environment
    Provide project management and relationship management support for global initiatives and act as a liaison for teams

Experience, Education And Designations:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; Master’s Degree in Business Administration or a Technology an asset
  • 10+ years in progressively management roles overseeing overall Technology Management for a listed company
  • 8+ years providing production support for ERP, retail and other enterprise grade software
  • Experience in selecting and managing outside vendors who serve outsourced roles in the department
  • Experience in change management
  • Experience leading teams across cultures, APAC regions and geographies
  • Project management experience an asset
  • Experience in SOX

Knowledge, Skills And Attributes

  • Ability to present and effectively communicate information to executive-level staff
  • Ability to interact with and provide support to a diverse group of employees at all levels
  • Strong interpersonal, customer relationship/partnership and influential skills to facilitate the implementation of efficient business processes supported by technology across all departments
  • Practiced COBIT, ITIL or similar framework
  • Fluent in English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin). Japanese desirable but not essential.

Working Conditions

  • Usually work regular business hours, but may require evenings and weekends to complete projects
  • Work in offices, retail facilities and environmentally controlled server rooms
  • Requires travel (up to 20%) to local or international sites, conferences and/or seminars
  • Lifting items up to 22 pounds may be routinely required
