About The Role
You’ll be working as an Australian tax accountant at Odin Mortgage & tax in Singapore, collaborating with our global team to deliver exceptional service to clients. Your responsibilities will include:

Australian Resident & Non-Resident Tax Compliance and Advisory

  • Prepare and lodge Australian tax returns for Australian residents and non-residents, including expatriates, foreign investors, and temporary visa holders.
  • Advise clients on tax implications of non-resident status, including:
  • Sourced income from Australian assets (rental properties, investments, etc.).
  • Capital Gains Tax (CGT) obligations for non-residents.
  • Withholding tax requirements (e.g., dividends, royalties, interest).
  • Interpret and apply Double Tax Agreements (DTAs) to mitigate dual taxation risks.
  • Manage ATO correspondence, audits, or disputes involving non-resident tax issues.

Leadership, Training & Process Improvement

  • Leading and mentoring a team of tax professionals, encouraging continuous learning and development to maintain excellence in service and expertise.
  • Conducting educational seminars and training sessions on Australian tax law for clients and internal teams, promoting informed financial decisions.
  • Streamlining tax processes and implementing innovative planning tools to improve the accuracy and efficiency of tax preparations.

Regulatory Compliance and Cross-Border Collaboration

  • Stay updated on ATO guidelines, rulings, and legislative changes affecting non-residents.
  • Collaborate with international teams to address cross-border tax planning and compliance.
  • Educate clients on lodgement deadlines, documentation, and record-keeping requirements.

Requirements

Experience:

  • 1-3+ years of experience in Australian taxation, with a focus on non-resident tax rules. (preferred)
  • In-depth knowledge of ATO guidelines for non-residents (e.g., TR 98/17, TR 2022/2).
  • Proficiency in tax software (Xero, Handitax) and ATO online portals.
  • Strong understanding of DTAs, FATCA, and CRS reporting.

Skills:

  • Strong numerical and analytical skills to provide accurate credit, general tax & finance advice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, particularly over phone, video calls, text and email.
  • Strong tax knowledge High degree of self-motivation, resourcefulness, discipline, and accountability to work autonomously.
  • Ability to manage pressure and adhere to tight deadlines.

Qualifications:

  • CA/CPA certification or equivalent tax qualification (not mandatory)
