Responsibilities:

The appointee will be required but not limited to:

  • support all aspects of academic activities through teaching, research, and consultancy;
  • contribute to the planning, formulation and implementation of the College and School’s strategic initiatives and development;
  • participate in programme development and validation exercises;
  • take up responsibilities in academic and departmental administration and clinical teaching;
  • guide / facilitate the College in enhancing its visibility and strengthening its local and international connections;
  • take the initiative in promoting good teaching and collaborative research;
  • liaise with external bodies for job placements and professional development;
  • engage in research and have publication output, in accordance to the workload requirements of the College;
  • perform scholarly activities;
  • increase the publication output and raise the level of consultancies in respective discipline(s);
  • oversee / perform academic activities including academic advising, examination and assessment, student recruitment, committee works, whole person development activities of students;
  • undertake professional service to external professional body / organization and provide public services to the community; and
  • perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

The appointee should have:

  • a PhD degree or equivalent professional Doctorate in a relevant discipline (obstetric nursing background is preferred) with a valid Registered Nurse practicing certificate (General and/or Mental Health) issued by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong;
  • sufficient years of relevant experience in teaching in the tertiary education sector, programme development and programme leadership; and
  • publications in journals (desirably with international reputation) and with high impact in the relevant discipline; and demonstration as an active researcher.

Salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Established by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (“TWGHs”) in 2010, Tung Wah College (TWC) is a self-financing degree-granting institution registered under the Post Secondary Colleges Ordinance (Cap.320).  Following the educational ideals of TWGHs and leveraging on its renowned strengths and expertise, TWC aims to provide high quality tertiary education to nurture competent, socially responsible and caring professionals for the benefits of society.

With the staunch support of TWGHs, TWC has been developing rapidly and built up a niche in healthcare education. It is the first self-financing tertiary institution offering five professionally accredited degrees to train nurses and allied health professionals such as medical laboratory technologists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and radiation therapists.
