We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Science and Technology:

Lecturer (act as Student Advising Coordinator) (S&T) (Ref: 25000HW)

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

  • Providing academic advising, training and support to students;
  • Undertaking the delivery of courses (including classroom / laboratory / field teaching) and STEAM workshops;
  • Marking of assignments, tests and examinations;
  • Engaging in student development activities;
  • Participating in School / University activities and administration; and
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the Dean (S&T) or his/her nominee(s).

 

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

  • A higher degree or equivalent, preferably a PhD degree in a discipline of applied sciences (e.g. biomedical science, environmental science and food science etc.);
  • Preferably with teaching / working experience in post-secondary institutions;
  • At least 3-year industrial experience;
  • Relevant teaching / professional experience in laboratory safety; and
  • A good command of English and Chinese (preferably including Putonghua).

 

Terms and Conditions for Appointment

An attractive remuneration package, including basic salary, an end-of-contract gratuity, and a discretionary incentive payment, where applicable, will be offered to the right candidates. Generous annual leave, staff-development sponsorships, medical and dental benefits, and life insurance coverage will also be provided.

Overseas candidates who are successfully appointed by the University and below age 50 will be eligible to apply for the “Accommodation Programme for Overseas Young Teaching Staff” sponsored by the “Katie Shu Sui Pui Charitable Trust”.  This programme offers the opportunity to reside in assigned accommodation free of charge for a period of up to six months, subject to terms and conditions.
