This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated and driven individual to work in a premier legal team and become well-versed in a large variety of debt capital markets with wide geographical exposure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to Partners and Associates in Hong Kong.
  • Matter management (e.g.: reviewing initial and subsequent drafts and summarizing changes and highlighting changes relevant to the client), handling documentation relating to closings and completion and document checklist review and annotation.

Qualifications / Person Specification

  • Paralegal experience from leading U.S. or magic circle legal firms with 3 to 5 years of experience in the Debt Capital Markets or Restructuring practice.
  • Fluent in oral and written English.
  • The candidate will also need to be comfortable participating in conversations and written communications in Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese) and able to review drafts in Chinese.

Experience And Attributes

  • This is a permanent paralegal position in Mayer Brown’s Corporate & Securities practice.
  • This position does not offer a path to an associate position.
  • Our clients are leading global banks and we are looking for a candidate that can perform routine tasks independently and to a high service quality that is expected from our clients.
  • The practice is high volume and day-to-day work will require a thorough understanding of documentation and timelines. The candidate will need excellent organizational skills and demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects each with a different scope of work in an efficient, high quality and timely manner.
  • The debt capital markets practice often requires coverage outside of regular working hours and the candidate will be responsible for attending to and handling tasks during non-work hours and on weekends.
