Senior Actuarial Analyst in Capital and Reinsurance Management team providing modelling and technical support for capital management routines, capital sensitivity testing, capital adequacy testing and ad-hoc capital initiatives. This role requires strong modelling and analytical skills and the ability to work in fast-paced and dynamic work environments.
- Assist in capital management quarterly routines, such as producing capital sensitivities to key risks, capital forecast, quarter to quarter variance analysis, capital generation monitoring, etc, mainly on Canadian LICAT basis with partial support on HK RBC basis as assigned
- Produce capital plan projection including a 5-year capital projection for the company’s strategic plan and 1-year detailed capital projection based on the realistic assumptions and projected business growth, mainly producing model runs and preparing various working templates with technical support
- Conduct annual capital adequacy testing, mainly the Canadian capital basis Financial Condition Testing, to project the company’s capital position under various stress scenarios over 5-year projection period and support analysis of changes to identify key risks and explore mitigation actions.
- Provide modelling support in various ad-hoc capital analysis, e.g. cash value deficiency monitoring, conducting OSFI QIS testing for LICAT guideline updates, supporting capital analysis for investment, ALM and reinsurance initiatives as needed
- Identify areas for modelling, documentation and process improvements and provide support in executing enhancements and model refinements.
- Support on other projects and tasks within actuarial department as assigned, for example, experience studies
Job Requirements
- Degree in Actuarial Science or related disciplines
- Good progressing in actuarial exams
- 3-4 years of experience in life insurance industry
- Strong analytical skills with Knowledge in valuation, capital and financial reporting
- Experience in IFRS 17, asset and liability cash flow projection, capital stress testing is a plus
- Modelling experience in Axis or Prophet ALS model an advantage
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to details
- Take ownership and can work independently with an agile mindset with minimal supervision
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Demonstrate initiative, commitment and responsibility as a team member
