A Well-Established International Bank is looking for a Head of Operations to join their Trade Finance Services & Operations Department. The ideal candidate will supervise the daily activities and operational projects of the Trade Finance Operations department, which consists of 5 teams with over 100 headcounts and ensure the team is in compliance with banking policies and procedures.
Your new role
- Lead and manage the daily import and export trade finance, bills processing and settlement, Letter of Credit (L/C), trade documentation examination and checking, structured trade operations, and factoring. Additionally, to control the operation of the team to ensure the delivery of efficient and high-quality products and services at cost-effective prices to internal and external customers.
- Ensure the smooth daily operations of 5 teams with 100+ headcounts and 5 direct reporting lines by providing advice and approval to resolve problem cases, and to maintain and further improve the good working relationship with internal and business parties.
- Lead, motivate, provide guidance and training to staff to ensure business goals are met.
- Ensure the team meets and delivers the Department's operating budget.
- Manage/improve and ensure constant good working relationships with internal customer segments and support their initiatives to enhance revenue streams.
- Offer suggestions for process improvement and act as a communication channel between Management and staff.
- Provide direction by setting performance targets for staff and monitoring actual performance against targets and ensuring compliance with statutory rules and compliance with internal policies and guidelines.
- Work with Business Unit and Credit to set up customer facility summary and control sheets.
- Establish the control functions, address the root causes and obtain the necessary approval to ensure effective end-to-end monitoring and risk-free
- Drive digital transformation, streamline processing and innovation strategies to achieve productivity gains for the team
- Deliver efficient and good-quality products and services to internal and external customers in accordance with the service standards and monitoring the processing KPIs.
- Visit external customers independently or jointly with customer segments / Relationship Manager of FI/ Corporate banking RM if required.
- Drive operations digitisation strategies to uplift team efficiency and effectiveness
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree holder and above
- Minimum 15 years' experience in banking operations or relevant experience. With at least 5 years of Senior Operational management experience and scalable team size
- Capable of meet SLA / tight deadlines and perform efficiently under pressure with a master's level of proficiency in leadership, problem-solving, developing and coaching, communication, teamwork, planning and organising.
- Good at spoken and written English and Chinese.
- In-depth trade product knowledge and operational experience.
- Sound people and project management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of ICC and UCP 600 trade rules and regulations & statutory rules and regulations.
- Good PC skills and knowledge.
