Role Introduction

 

Reports to: Financial Reporting Manager

Departments: FIN - Financial Services

The Accountant will play a pivotal role in the Cathay Group Financial Reporting Team in the provision of summary & detailed financial analysis. He/ she will be contributing to month-end and year-end closing, consolidated schedules preparation, general ledger reconciliation and monitoring, financial reporting and statutory audit.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Lead and ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing tasks in SAP and BPC systems
  • Consolidate and produce monthly consolidated financial schedules and management reports with proper consolidated adjustments
  • Support in the planning, coordination and production of interim and annual group financial statements, accounting schedules and related external reporting deliverables, and addressing queries from external and internal auditors
  • Liaison with and support other accounting teams and subsidiaries in aligning information for consistent on accounting treatments
  • Handle monthly intercompany reconciliations and variance investigations
  • Handle full sets of statutory accounts for investment holding subsidiariesfor management and external auditors’ review
  • Coordinate automation projects, initiate system and operation improvements
  • Provide advice on SAP/month closing enquires
  • Perform ad hoc assignments as and when required

Requirements

 

  • Degree in Accounting/ Finance or related discipline with a professional designation in Accountancy
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting or management reporting
  • Audit experience with recognised audit firms a definite plus
  • Strong analytical mind and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work under process and being flexible when necessary to meet deadlines
  • Excellent Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills are essential while knowledge of BPC/ SAP is a plus
  • Team player with good problem solving and interpersonal skills
  • Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese
  • Willing to challenge the status quo and improve work processes
