Data Engineer - Top Investment Manager

Our client, is a premier alternative investment management firm based in Hong Kong. Since its inception close to 10 years ago, led by industry veterans, the fund has grown and have a dedicated team focused on leveraging data across Asian markets. They are now expanding their Technology Team and seeking a Data Engineer who will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining web scraping solutions to collect and process data from multiple websites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain web scraping scripts to collect data from various website.
• Clean, transform, and organize scraped data into structured formats.
• Store and manage data in databases or data warehouses.
• Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements and provide insights.
• Ensure compliance with legal and ethical guidelines for web scraping.
• Troubleshoot and optimize web scraping processes for efficiency and accuracy.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in web scraping and data collection.
• Fresh graduates welcome!
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or similar.
• Familiarity with web scraping tools and frameworks (e.g., BeautifulSoup, Scrapy).
• Experience with data processing and storage solutions (e.g., SQL, NoSQL databases).
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills.

Candidates should also be fluent both English/Mandarin Chinese.

Necessary Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science/Technology/Data
• Proficiency building enterprise-level web crawlers/data pipelines using front-end languages like HTML/CSS/JS; backend Python framework such as Flask/Django.
• Expertise in databases: MySQL / PostgreSQL / Redshift
