Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Node.js Backend Developer to join our Hong Kong-based development team. In this role, you will play a key part in building robust, scalable backend systems that power our digital connectivity products and services for international travellers.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop RESTful APIs using Node.js and frameworks such as Express, Hapi, or LoopBack
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following industry best practices
• Manage and optimise application databases including PostgreSQL and MongoDB
• Implement efficient caching strategies using Redis
• Integrate third-party services such as Stripe, SendGrid, and Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM)
• Develop unit tests to ensure code quality and system stability
• Collaborate with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to drive product development
• Contribute to technical discussions and backend architecture decisions

Required Qualifications

• Proficient in Node.js and experienced with backend frameworks like Express.js
• Strong understanding of JavaScript (ES5+) and TypeScript
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL , and MongoDB
• Familiar with authentication protocols including JWT , OAuth 2.0 , and session-based authentication
• Experience designing and implementing rate-limiting and security best practices (e.g. CSRF, XSS protection)
• Comfortable using Git and working within agile development environments
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows
• Exposure to frontend technologies (e.g. React, Vue)
• Familiarity with AWS services (e.g. EC2, S3, Lambda)
• Background in telecom , travel tech , or e-commerce is a plus
