Our client is a prestigious banking group with a well-established local business spanning SME, corporate and retail clients. As the business continues to grow, they are looking to hire a Chief Risk Officer. On their behalf, we are seeking a seasoned risk executive, with an in-depth understanding of risk management to develop and implement comprehensive risk policies and protocols that align with the company’s strategic objectives.


The Chief Risk Officer (CRO) is a vital member of the senior management team, responsible for identifying, evaluating, and mitigating potential risks that could impact the organization. This position plays a significant role in shaping the company’s risk management strategy, ensuring that risks are effectively managed to protect the organization’s reputation, safety, security, and financial well-being.


In addition to these responsibilities, you will oversee the firm’s major risk exposures, including market, credit, analytics, IT and ops, and liquidity risks, ensuring they are managed in line with established risk measurement methodologies. You will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s risk appetite statement, including setting risk limits and tolerances. Furthermore, you will be responsible for reviewing capital, liquidity, and funding strategies, as well as related guidelines and policies, ensuring that contingency funding plans and capital planning processes are robust and effective.


Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of experience in corporate risk management and governance
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering or Science or related field (MSc/MA preferred)
  • Professional accreditation (e.g., FRM, CFA).
  • Strong knowledge of industry regulations, compliance standards, and governance practices
  • Experience related to credit risk (SME and corporates), credit analytics, market risk
  • Strong experience of banking practices, operational procedures, and IT control matters.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and leadership abilities
  • Experience with audits and regulatory issues
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Fluency in both Mandarin and English is essential for this role
  • High level of integrity and ethical standards
