DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH TECHNOLOGY AND INFORMATICS

Technical Assistant (Ref. 250328002-IE)

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) provide general assistance in all aspects of laboratory duties to staff members in the Department of Health Technology and Informatics;

(b) perform routine cleaning and maintenance of all Medical Laboratory Science teaching and research laboratories;

(c) provide technical support for laboratory practicals and maintain laboratory equipment;

(d) assist with checking and updating stock and inventory; 

(e) deliver specimens, documents and materials within and outside the campus; and 

(f) perform any other duties as assigned by the Head of Unit or his/her delegates.

The appointee may be required to work occasionally on irregular hours, including Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a) five passes in HKCEE including English Language (at least Grade C if Syllabus A; Level 2 if results are obtained from 2007 onwards), Chinese Language (Level 2 if results are obtained from 2007 onwards) and Mathematics; or a combination of results in five HKDSE subjects of Level 2 in New Senior Secondary subjects / "Attained" in Applied Learning subjects / Grade E in Other Language subjects, and the five subjects must include English Language, Chinese Language and Mathematics; or a recognised certificate/diploma or an equivalent qualification;

(b) some relevant work experience preferably in laboratory settings; and

(c) a strong sense of responsibility, with good communication and interpersonal skills.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered.  Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract.  Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
