Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) and Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) (Lee Wai Lee)

Major Responsibilities:
(a) To serve as Vice Principal to assist the Campus Principal of HKDI and IVE (Lee Wai Lee) to oversee the campus overall operations, including programme planning, exhibitions and events, resources utilization, support to students’ learning and career development, staff developments, etc.;
(b) To perform the role of Deputy Academic Director of Design Discipline (the Discipline) to assist the Academic Director in providing strong academic leadership for the development, validation and accreditation of programmes, as well as overseeing their academic quality and leading curriculum review and enhancement of Design programmes / modules;
(c) To play a leading role in exploring new opportunities and assisting the Academic Director in formulating and implementing strategic initiatives for the development of the Discipline;
(d) To plan, manage, monitor and control the provision and utilisation of staff and other resources of the Discipline;
(e) To establish linkages with both internal and external stakeholders;
(f) To assist the Academic Director in overseeing projects at both the Discipline and Council levels, including but not limited to student admission and promotion, HKDI Knowledge Centres and external funding projects; and
(g) To assist in formulating Council's strategic initiatives and annual plans of programmes and activities.
Qualifications, Experience and Attributes:
Applicant should possess:
(a) Substantial managerial experience at a senior level and be well qualified academically and professionally;
(b) A recognised degree or equivalent, preferably with postgraduate and/or professional qualifications, and good academic / professional standing in the relevant discipline;
(c) Good people skills, communication and presentation skills, and leadership qualities;
(d) Ability to build rapport with trade, industry as well as professional bodies;
(e) Sensitivity to economic trends and business environment and ability to initiate and manage change;
(f) Excellent command of English and Chinese languages, including Putonghua; and
(g) Solid knowledge and experience in vocational and professional education and training, and campus and programme management are preferred.
