Vice President / Assistant Vice President, Credit Appraisal
Lead the team to provide efficient and quality credit assessments
Review, analyse and approve credit proposals
Respond to requests and enquiries from business units
Responsibilities:
Lead the team to provide efficient and quality credit assessments for all credit applications
Review, analyse and approve credit proposals submitted from business units in Hong Kong and Mainland China, and ensure adherence to the Bank's policies and delegated limits, as well as regulatory requirements
Ensure the risks inherent in the credit process are properly identified and mitigated
Respond to requests and enquiries from business units, resolve any credit issues and expedite the process
Contribute to the formulation of policies on credit, recovery, provision and write-off
Provide recommendations to the management for credit applications
Review and ensure consistent production of high quality and focused credit evaluation reports
Handle internal and external audits and regulator’s examinations
Requirements:
Degree holder in Business Administration, Finance, Risk Management or related disciplines
Professional qualifications, such as CFA, CPA, ECF-CRM, etc., are preferred
Minimum 12 years of relevant experience in credit approval for retail, SME, and corporate customers in Hong Kong and Mainland China, solid understanding of lending products, including syndicated loans and derivative products, and at least 8 years' experience managing a team
Good understanding of banking operations and services, market practice and banking regulations in HK and Mainland China
Self-motivated and detail-minded with strong risk control sense and analytical skills
Able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and the target turnaround time
Effective communication and interpersonal skills and a readiness to challenge assumptions
Strong in written and spoken English and Chinese, proficiency in Putonghua is preferable
Travelling to China for site visits is occasionally required
(Candidates with less experience may be considered for AVP level)
