The Role

  • Contribute to a profitable and sustainable growth of TCI and other LoB operations in minimizing losses and maximizing recoveries emanating from large, sensitive buyer risks placed with the Sensitive Risks Unit (SRU) team.

  • Head the Sensitive Risks Unit team and devise;
    • models for early identification of deteriorating risk/buyers at risk of default through quantitative/qualitative assessment of economic, financial, market data
    • (non-) standard risk exposure-mitigation strategies, including recoveries strategies and oversee their timely and effective execution where BBU binds the IBU
    • communication strategies with internal/external stakeholders to ensure buy-in and consistency of the message supporting the risk strategy implementation.
    • the building of market intelligence through networking, developing knowledge of new financial/business practice and seeking new data/information sourcing to enhance our analytics impact.
  • Handle SRU assigned cases and participate to the relevant BU-Regional-Group Committees.

Main Tasks

  • Team Management and Employee Value;
    • Lead, inspire and develop the SRU team to become top-notch Sensitive Risk experts
    • Recruit, train, develop the team and ensure the corresponding Recruitment, Learning & Development Programs are adequately reflecting the needs of a high performing team.
    • Share and promote the purpose of the SRU role through Lunch & Learn, Best Practices sharing initiatives.
  • Thought Leadership
    • Is an operational leader and manage asigned cases as well as ensure the team handles efficiently the cases in the portfolio.
    • Develop non-standard risk mitigation strategies; look for opportunities to preserve business and apply risk mitigants - minimize losses and maximize recoveries - execute the retained strategy in any given case in a rigorous manner and binding as BBU the IBU - manage timely escalations.
    • Steer SRU performance and define, track and adjust the relevant KPI.
    • Continuously drive the portfolio analysis in regard to volumes, capacity, sensitivities, and processes. Develop actions and ensure the team can navigate in demanding and uncertain environments in an agile, flexible manner.
    • Deliver on high quality standards in line with Group and Regional procedures & guidelines and develop SLA, track performances and report timely and accurately.
    • Build and maintain market intelligence in a pro-active manner (targeted networking; building on knowledge and understanding of new financial and business structures; identifying and understanding new ways of information and data sourcing).
  • Collaboration and Communication
    • Ensure the handover of cases based on a set of objective and subjective criteria in close collaboration with mainstream teams.
    • Build and maintain high quality relationships with internal senior Credit and Commercial stakeholders to ensure buy-in to the risk mitigation strategies and their execution.
    • Develop and maintain a communication strategy that supports risk mitigation strategy for all target audiences (internally and externally and including towards industry influencers) and using various channels alongside clear planning.
    • Develop excellent relationships with other Heads of SRU across Regions/BU and with Group as well as with key stakeholders of all LoB
    • Build, develop and maintain strategic relationships with market and industry leaders in information sourcing and financial communities.
Typical Functional Skills / Experiences

  • Must Have
    • Excellent in credit/risk assessment and financial analysis with relevant experience in banking (investment, intensive care) - audit - financial restructuring - hedge funds and relevant industry experience
    • Strong knowledge of high yield debt markets, debt restructuring techniques and key market-industry players
    • Excellent knowledge of Allianz Trade products and services across LoB and able to bring a different customer experience
    • Fluency in Englsh
  • Ideally Have:
    • Master's degree in Finance or equivalent in experience
    • Very good knowledge of relevant international court/legal proceedings
    • Able to network and build relations and trust
    • Strong in analytical skills, critical thinking with excellent listening - communication and negotiation skills, being a problem solver, very well organized and able to resist pressure
    • Able to work in uncertain and unstable environments
    • Very good in facilitating and coordinating activities across various teams in a cross-border context
    • Willing to travel on short term notice and outside of usual business hours to deal effectively with urgency and crisis situations.
