The Department

The Mainland Affairs Department (Policy & Stakeholders Engagement) is responsible for strategic liaison and engagement with Mainland stakeholders in both governmental and nongovernmental sectors through a wide range of programmes, events and platforms with a view to supporting the Club's operations and development in the Mainland. The department also keeps track of policies, measures and regulations pertaining to the Club's operations and development in the Mainland and identifies potential challenges and opportunities.


Reporting to the Senior Manager, Mainland Affairs, the post holder will work at Beijing Representative Office and conduct strategic engagement with key stakeholders across the country, particularly the central authorities and local authorities of the northern part of the Mainland and other strategic localities, national organizations, industry practitioners, and community partners, with an aim to enhance the Club's overall Mainland relationship and support the Club's continuous developments in the Mainland.
The post holder will help review and develop the Club's engagement strategy, design new engagement platforms, and implement the engagement plan to facilitate the Club's existing and upcoming business pursuits. The engagement should also enable the Club to better understand government officials' policy thinking with implications for the Club's operations and mitigate policy risks. In this regard, the post holder is expected to foster constructive relationships with key stakeholders by exploring opportunities that contribute to the development or cooperation between the Mainland and the Club; and render support to Executive Manager, Mainland Affairs (Beijing Office) and the Senior Manager, Mainland Affairs’ works.


This position will initially be based in Hong Kong for familiarization during the first two months. Following this period, the position will be based in Beijing until further notice.

 

The Job

You will:

  • Conduct and update mapping of national strategic stakeholders (particularly the central authorities, industry practitioners, professional organizations, and community partners) and contribute to the development of a holistic engagement plan to gain support for the Club's business pursuits in a wide range of areas.
  • Formulate and execute the engagement plan for strategic stakeholders to build an effective network of relationships, enhance their understanding of the Club's integrated business model, and secure their buy-in for the Club's Mainland vision.
  • Plan and organise events and activities to facilitate engagement with strategic stakeholders, formulate hospitality arrangements for relevant Mainland guests invited to participate in Club events, and support senior management's engagement activities in the Mainland.
  • Implement and/or administer strategic engagement programmes, including but not limited to those supporting the development of domestic horse industry, equine sports, other sports initiatives, youth athletes, and rural revitalization; with a focus in north of Yangtze River or other strategic locations inside or outside of the Mainland.
  • Collaborate closely with other Club BUs and internal stakeholders to facilitate the development and implementation of the Club's business initiatives in the Mainland.
  • Prepare reports of policy developments and identified opportunities at national level, Central Government officials' policy thinking with implications on the Club's operations, and recommendations on mitigation measures in relation to policy risks.
  • Explore collaboration opportunities with the central authorities and national bodies by way of donations, sponsorships, professional collaborations, or community projects with a view to establishing or reinforcing trusted relationships, demonstrating the Club's social commitment and impact, and enhancing the Club's corporate brand in the Mainland.
  • Contribute to MA(P&SE)'s overall Mainland strategic stakeholders engagement efforts by providing articulation on the Club as an active participant in national and local developments and cross-border cooperation between the Mainland and Hong Kong.
  • Undertake any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

About You

You should have:

  • A recongnised university degree in related discipline
  • 8+ years of experience in Mainland affairs, government / government relations, external relations, public relations and/or journalism
  • Eligibility to work in Hong Kong
  • Solid knowledge of latest development in the Mainland
  • Experience in liaison with public officials, NGOs and/or community organisations, execution of stakeholders engagement events and programmes
  • Experience in the public sector and prior working relationships with Mainland organisations will be an advantage
  • Good networking and communication skills with an outgoing character
  • A team player with outstanding interpersonal skills and strong sense of integrity
  • High organised, able to multitask effectively and with meticulous attention to details
  • A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Proficiency in Putonghua in mandatory
  • Work between Hong Kong & Beijing
