Reporting to the Finance team and partnering with our Data teams, this role will lead and drive success through the implementation of Finance initiatives for Life business within the Global Life Data Transformation Program. The focus will be on the end-to-end data delivery lifecycle for Finance, achieving business outcomes aligned with strategic priorities and corresponding OKR’s.
Product Ownership
Drive the strategic direction of the finance product portfolio, with a focus on delivering business growth and revenue expansion, by leading the finance end-to-end product lifecycle, including product vision, roadmap, and measurements of success
Foster strategic partnerships with key stakeholders to drive business outcomes, including collaborating with business partners and stakeholders to understand and anticipate their needs and translate them into product requirements
Serve as the primary point of contact for cross-functional stakeholders, including executive leadership, to ensure alignment and effective communication, and build and maintain relationships to drive collaboration and business results
Develop, prioritize, and maintain the product roadmap and squad backlog to drive speed-to-market and business impact, with a focus on delivering high-quality products that meet customer needs
Ensure user stories, definition of ready, definition of done and acceptance criteria are clearly documented, and ensure that the delivery teams deliver to these documented expectations by taking an active role
Make informed, data-driven decisions that drive business impact and mitigate risk, and escalate or remove blockers appropriately to ensure the squad's progress and success
Champion the development of innovative finance products, from concept to launch, to drive customer engagement and revenue growth, and oversee all stages of product creation, including design and development.
Functional Delivery
Exhibit a solid understanding of financial reporting principles (e.g. IFRS, US GAAP), FP&A activities (e.g. budgeting, forecasting, performance analysis), key life insurance actuarial practices (e.g. valuation, pricing, mortality assumptions, reserving), and relevant regulatory requirements
Draw on your experience in financial services to understand and assess the differing needs and priorities across the wider Finance team, including Actuarial, Financial Planning & Analysis, Controllers and Tax
Maintain a balanced and delivery focussed roadmap meeting the needs of these various teams, as well as resolve conflicts and/or competing priorities
Effectively translate complex financial and actuarial business requirements into clear, concise, and actionable technical specifications for development teams
Ensure that all data delivery initiatives are strategically aligned with the overall business objectives and financial goals of the company, demonstrating clear business value
Lead and champion data quality initiatives, ensuring that delivered data is accurate, reliable, consistent, and readily accessible to Finance and Actuarial users
Own and drive the development of effective data visualisation dashboards and reports that enable actionable insights
Deliver a centralized Finance Data Asset, as well as reusable data products for Finance leveraging the Finance Data Asset
Agile Leadership
Support the Delivery Manager and Scrum Master in leading one or more squads via Agile Cycles, including participating in/leading Scrum, Demo, and Retro meetings
Coach squads and business partners/stakeholders on Agile best practices
Continuously identify areas of opportunity for the squad and provide input into sprint reviews and retrospectives
Facilitate product demos and launches; advocating and communicating value to users and stakeholders
Partner with other product owners to maintain wider data program priorities, as well as identify opportunities for reuse to drive delivery efficiency
Qualifications
Bachelor or Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, MBA, Information Management, or a related field.
10 years of experience in Finance and/or Actuarial with at least 5 years as a product owner or Agile practitioner
Strong preference for life insurance experience, with additional consideration given to candidates with experience in general/health insurance or financial services, and a deep understanding of the industry's trends, challenges, and opportunities.
Proven experience with data and/or analytics deliveries, including data visualization, machine learning, and statistical modelling, with the ability to extract insights and drive business decisions.
Ability and willingness to provide hands-on direction and day-to-day execution ownership in a multidisciplinary team
Clearly demonstrated ability to think both strategically and tactically; Also, an empathic approach to understand user needs and motivations.
Ability to effectively identify and manage needs of a broad range of stakeholders
Strong self-motivator with a contagious ability to spread energy to team
Robust working knowledge in delivery aspects of product development, including business design, agile principles and development
Self-directed and resourceful, with a strong ability to solve complex challenges and blockers with limited support, and a willingness to take calculated risks and experiment with new approaches and solutions
Excellent communication and presentation skills; comfortable in engaging with senior leadership
Fluent in English, both written and verbal
