Research Assistant (several posts) (Ref. 250306002)

Duties

The appointees will assist the project leader in the research project - “Research centre for blockchain technology”.  The appointees will take the role of Junior Full Stack Developer and will be required to:

(a) develop and maintain web applications using modern frameworks; 

(b) write clean, maintainable and efficient code; 

(c) work on both frontend and backend development tasks;

(d) collaborate with senior researchers and product teams; 

(e) participate in code reviews and technical discussions;

(f) assist in database design and management; 

(g) debug and fix software issues; and

(h) perform any other duties as assigned by the project leader, the Head of Unit or their delegates.

Qualifications

Applicants should have:

(a) a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline or an equivalent qualification;

(b) knowledge of JavaScript/Typescript;

(c) experience in frontend frameworks (React.js, Vue.js);

(d) basic understanding of backend development (Node.js, Java or Python); 

(e) familiarity with HTML5 and CSS3; 

(f) basic knowledge of SQL databases; and

(g) version control with Git.

Preference will be given to those with experience in REST APIs, understanding of web security principles, knowledge of cloud services (AWS, Azure or GCP), basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and/or experience in agile development methodology.
