Jefferies is seeking a senior kdb/q developer to take our market data platform in Asia to the next level. As we continuously onboard new datasets and users, we are looking for a passionate and dedicated kdb developer to take ownership of the platform.

Role:

As part of a wider engineering team based in Tokyo and Hong Kong, you will collaborate closely with the Central Risk Book/Quant Trading team in Asia to design and implement new APIs and features. We value quality code, innovative solutions, and always approach new technologies with an open mind. This business area is experiencing significant growth, with substantial investments in cloud technology and IT in general.

Responsibilities:

You will be the primary owner of the kdb stack in Asia, encompassing the full stack of tickerplants, analytics, APIs, and more. Your role will involve designing databases and optimizing queries for high-frequency and real-time analytics. You will build and maintain systems that process live market, position, and reference data, generating derived data in real time. With an ever-expanding number of new datasets, both real-time and batch processing, you will collaborate with the global team to develop the global market and reference data system. Additionally, you will work with traders to understand their needs and develop tools to support their strategies, and be involved in the design of trading workflow management systems.

Mandatory Qualifications:

Candidates should have at least 5 years of experience with core kdb/q development, covering all aspects of the kdb tick stack from ingestion to processing and storage. Experience with enterprise kdb setups, real-time dashboards, and report generation (e.g. Grafana) is essential. Strong Linux skills and familiarity with modern software development practices, including CI/CD, are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with compiled languages like C++ or Java, scripting languages such as Bash and Python, and web technologies like JavaScript and React is advantageous. Knowledge of cloud technologies (AWS EC2, AWS Batch, Docker, Kubernetes) and CI/CD tools (Bamboo, Jenkins) is also beneficial.
