JOB DESCRIPTION

Discovery College is seeking to appoint a full-time position of PE Assistant starting Immediately to support the smooth running of the PHE and sports faculty, students and the whole school as required through the organization of equipment, management of logistics and other administrative tasks. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain and manage Physical & Health Education resources and sports equipment to support the work of the department
• Assist students in undertaking set activities as appropriate, including accompanying them to venues
• Assist PHE staff to facilitate lesson delivery as required
• Establish positive working relationships with students, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
• Ensure that PHE resources are appropriately maintained and available when required
• Assist with setting up equipment as required by PHE staff
• Assist in the repair and/or disposal of damaged equipment
• Respond to questions about processes and procedures
• Perform a variety of administration tasks
• Perform other duties and assume accountabilities as apparent or as delegated, including mutually agreed upon objectives

REQUIREMENTS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE:

• Successful completion of secondary education with pass criteria for core subjects.
• Preferable 1-2 years experience in Administration
• Experience as a sports coach or performer is an advantage
• ICT competence to a good level – Google docs, spreadsheets, and word processing.
• Use of media equipment e.g. film and camera.
• Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in English, Cantonese speaking ability is an advantage
• Knowledge of the HK Sports Federation is an advantage.
• Knowledge of sports rules/parameters is an advantage.
• Shows initiative and is proactive in anticipating the needs of the department
• Ability to work as a team player and independently as per the needs of the department.
• A friendly, approachable manner in relation to staff and student users is essential.

Applicants must be a permanent Hong Kong resident or possess a valid visa to work in Hong Kong.

Note: This position follows a 5-day work week schedule across the year, including school holiday periods, with the entitlement of annual leave. This role is distinct from that of an Educational Assistant who would work directly with students for much of the time. The PE Assistant's role is mainly to do with organisational and administrative support for the PE department. As such, we would advise aspiring teachers to consider applying for other types of roles.
