The Department

Our Catering Department manages one of the largest and most diverse catering operations in Hong Kong. We provide a wide range of catering, sports and recreation facilities for Members and their guests in three Clubhouses. In addition, both Happy Valley and Sha Tin Racecourses have numerous catering facilities used by Members, non-members and corporate organizations for a variety of functions.

 

The Job

  • Ensuring that all staff within areas of responsibilities delight our Members. This is achieved by continuously improving operational efficiency; planning resources; allocating work fairly; establishing performance standards; arranging training for operation staff to develop their potential; inspiring and motivating staff to provide the highest standards of customer service to Members; planning and recommending recreation and sports programmes according to current trends and Club Members’ interests; managing the Club’s official sports teams to participate in tournaments; sourcing, recommending and monitoring qualified professional coaches to run programmes/ courses. This includes managing and handling all Members’ and guests’ issues which require management attention.
  • Achieving business results and managing cost base according to set Budget targets within areas of responsibilities. This is achieved by setting realistic targets to his /her team to achieve budgets; planning and executing events, marketing plans and promotions for Members’ benefits; and continuously seeking opportunities to increase revenues and decrease costs without compromising the quality of services and products. This includes working with the Membership Marketing team to promote effective marketing campaigns for our products, events and services using marketing promotional materials.
  • This also includes ensuring prudent cost allocation and control in expenditures to be in line with agreed budgets and forecasts by constantly reviewing variances of financial reports and taking remedial actions to reduce variances.
  • Ensuring that Club’s policies, procedures and guidelines are implemented within areas of responsibilities. This is achieved by daily inspection of service standards, cleanliness and comfort of sporting and recreational facilities, safety records of staff and Members that comply with statutory standards, and also ensuring that there is no major non-compliance in findings from internal audits.
  • Driving continuous improvements in providing excellent services to Members by actively soliciting Members’ feedback, sharing their feedback (including results of satisfaction surveys and mystery shoppers) with section heads and peers, and developing marketing programmes in considering Members’ demand and responses.
  • Alignment of sport & recreation policies, programmes, and facility management among the three Clubhouses. This is achieved by regularly reviewing these areas with the Recreation Managers and driving improvements when required.
  • Recommending and making recruitment decisions, and planning succession of key positions, management trainees and supervisory trainees.
  • Ensuring the operation within areas of responsibilities and the public areas comply with safety regulations in order to provide a safe and friendly environment for Members and staff. This is achieved by ensuring all concerned staff follow agreed safety work practices; regularly reviewing and inspecting facilities; monitoring the First-aid coordination within the Clubhouse; and constantly reviewing and improving work practices to include full investigation and improvements for safety related matters.
  • This includes enforcing and implementing the 5-S best practices for a better work place by monitoring the team to comply with the 5-S working principles.
  • Perform any other related duties as and when assigned by supervisor.

 

About You

You should have:

•    A university degree in Recreation Management or related disciplines

•    A minimum of five years in the sports and leisure field of which three years have been at a managerial level

•    Experience in the hospitality industry is required.

•    Knowledge of sports and leisure management

•    Knowledge of facility management

•    Fluency in both written and spoken English

•    Fluency in Cantonese is preferred, and proficiency in Mandarin is optional
