The Department

The Service Delivery Department is responsible for designing and delivering “IT Digital Transformation Programme”. In addition, the department is responsible for the delivery of application solutions including Finance, HR, CRM and Enterprise Data Warehouse systems for the Club’s business portfolios and managing the IT Shenzhen delivery arm.

The Job

You will:

1. Strategic Architecture Development

  • Lead the development of IT architecture blueprints and roadmaps for mainland China, with a focus on customer and racecourse operations, ensuring alignment with the overall IT strategy and business objectives
  • Identify and champion technology solutions that address business needs, including but not limited to customer loyalty programs, retail operations, and racecourse event management, while driving operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness
  • Design and implement scalable, secure, and fit-for-purpose technology solutions, ensuring compliance with enterprise architecture standards, policies, and regional regulatory requirements

2. Governance and Compliance

  • Oversee the governance of IT architecture initiatives by reviewing project designs, procurement plans, and solution implementations to ensure compliance with enterprise IT standards, policies, and strategic goals
  • Develop and maintain the China Reference Architecture, regularly reviewing technologies and identifying opportunities for improvement to meet organizational goals
  • Lead brainstorming sessions and stakeholder workshops to gather functional and non-functional requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives and enterprise architecture principles

3. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including solution, infrastructure, and security architects, to ensure seamless integration of technology solutions across business units
  • Engage with business leaders and external partners to set expectations, gather requirements, and drive alignment between IT solutions and business priorities

4. Team Leadership and Innovation

  • Foster a culture of innovation and inclusiveness by promoting diverse perspectives, encouraging knowledge sharing, and empowering the team to propose creative solutions
  • Identify and implement emerging technologies to address business challenges, drive digital transformation, and maintain a competitive advantage in mainland China
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to direct reports, consultants, and dotted-line functional managers, ensuring high performance and professional development

5. Shenzhen Innovation Center Support

  • Collaborate on POC Execution – Work closely with IT teams and vendors at the Shenzhen Innovation Center to support agreed proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives, ensuring successful execution
  • Transition POCs into Projects – Lead efforts to translate successful POCs into full-scale projects by coordinating resources, aligning with business objectives, and ensuring seamless implementation

6. Performance Monitoring and Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor and achieve assigned milestone KPIs, ensuring timely delivery of architecture initiatives and measurable business impact
  • Identify opportunities to enhance IT architectural efficiency, reducing costs and improving overall performance

About You

You should have:

  • University degree in Computer Science or related discipline. Masters degree preferred
  • Possess more than 15 Years of experience in solution and enterprise architecture development and governance
  • Experienced in business planning, budgeting and financial forecasting for IT organisations
  • Have demonstrated capability in assessing and implementing new technologies and solutions
  • Familiarity with mainland China-specific regulatory requirements and cultural nuances, particularly in industries such as retail, customer engagement, and events
  • Have demonstrated capability in designing long-term architectural roadmaps, delivering the planned state architecture
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of IT industry best practices, technologies, architectures and emerging technologies
  • Must be able to influence, advise, and present to all levels of the organisation, including externally
  • Be passionate, enthusiastic and an agent for change
  • Fluency in the written and spoken English language
  • Has integrity, is trustworthy, dependable, responsible, and accountable
  • Is highly driven, self-motivated with the ability to work independently, and work with other highly talented individuals
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and to thrive in a fast-paced work environment

  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills
  • Priority management, problem-solving and decision-making, including providing recommendations on available options
  • Leadership, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills with a diverse group of internal and external personnel
  • Certification in TOGAF, Zachman, Gartner EAM or related is a plus
  • Sound and solid knowledge regarding the technologies and solutions to support various mainland China business initiatives
  • Previous experience as a developer in a large enterprise using Java, C#/.NET, C++, native mobile application and WeChat mini-program development
  • Previous experience with messaging, message-oriented middleware (MOM), micro-service and event-driven architecture design, and patterns such as SAGA, CQRS, and Event Sourcing
  • Familiarity with scripting languages Python, BASH, Perl, Groovy
  • Ability to compile business cases, which demonstrate value by outlining Revenue Increases; Cost Control/ Reduction; improved customer experiences etc
  • Business Process Development, using modelling notations such as BPMN, to enable functional design
  • Architecture; software engineering; Dev/Ops; Cloud; Security; and Technology Trend awareness with the ability to translate this into non-architecture language for communication
  • Knowledge of appropriate Sovereign Legislation to ensure relevant compliance when reviewing solutions
  • Demonstrate experience in Data modelling and Analysis to design solutions for Deep Analytics, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
