Computer Technician II (carrying the job title of ‘Software Engineer’) (Ref. 250000LQ) (Closing date: April 30, 2025)
The Department is looking for a dynamic and passionate Computer Technician II to join the development team of Knowledge and Education Exchange Platform (KEEP) and VeriGuide as a Software Engineer.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) Innovative Feature Development: implementing dynamic features for e-learning web platforms and AI-driven applications, ensuring seamless user experiences through meticulous development, testing, and deployment; (b) System Maintenance and Support: conducting regular system evaluations, and providing proactive maintenance and technical support to ensure optimal performance; (c) Project Collaboration: actively participating in diverse and engaging projects, contributing innovative ideas and technical expertise to achieve project objectives; and (d) System Design and Documentation: supporting system design efforts, translating ideas into robust designs, and preparing comprehensive system documentation to guide future developments.
The applicant should have (i) a Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related disciplines; (ii) at least 1 year’s software development experience; (iii) self-motivation, good analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to guide less experienced members; and (iv) a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese. Prior work experience in the field of Machine Learning, as well as web frontend and backend development with Java, Spring, Hibernate, and Java EE is preferred. Familiarity with technologies such as Node.js, TypeScript, Python, PHP, Angular, and React is advantageous. Having experience in database systems, such as MySQL, and/or in Learning Management System (LMS), such as Moodle / Open edX would be an advantage.
Appointment will initially be made on a 1-year contract, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
