The Department of Digital Arts and Creative Industries (DACI) is an interdisciplinary and innovative learning hub that encompasses a wide range of areas, including film and television, animation, museums and curating, art history, as well as digital arts and immersive media.  We offer broad theoretical study and practical training for students seeking careers in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area's burgeoning creative and cultural industries.  DACI currently offers three Undergraduate programmes, BA (Hons) in Animation and Digital Arts, BA (Hons) in Creative Media Industries and BA (Hons) in Visual Studies, and two taught master programmes, MA in Creative and Media Industries (MACMI) and MA in Curating and Art History (MACAH). DACI is inviting applications for fixed-term position of Associate Professor of Teaching / Assistant Professor of Teaching to contribute to teaching and service to MA in Creative and Media Industries (MACMI) programme.  The appointee is expected to: i) teach relevant MA-level courses; ii) supervise MA-level capstone projects; and iii) contribute to service and development of the Department.

 

General Requirements

Applicants for the position should have:
(i) A PhD degree in relevant areas in film and media studies;
(ii) Up-to-date knowledge in the literature of media and creative industries with demonstrated strengths along institutional, historical or technological lines;
(iii) Teaching experience in some the following subjects: theory, history, and methods of media and creative industries; comparative cultural policy in East Asia; Hong Kong creative and media industries; new technology and media industries;
(iv) Familiarity with regional mediascapes and current East Asian creative and film industries.

 

Appointment

The conditions of appointments will be competitive.  The rank and remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.  Fringe benefits include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, gratuity and incoming passage and baggage allowance for the eligible appointee.  Appointment will normally be made on a fixed-term contract of up to three years.
