Role Introduction
Reports to: Network Senior Lead
Department: IMT - Information Technology
The Lead to work with IT Teams of different domains and manage IT professionals from infrastructure support services providers to perform technical governance, service transition, change management, preventive/proactive maintenance and service request to IT infrastructure and applications
Key Responsibilities
- Leverage key technical skills to ensure the IT infrastructure asset is built and maintained in an efficient and cost-effective manner
- Develop and input into key technology Infrastructure Engineering Lifecycle documentation, such as component version and patch management decisions
- Make strategic decision on how to leverage enabling technologies to implement innovative IT infrastructure solutions to support the business
- Use appropriate processes and tools to create systems, or services, on a technical infrastructure which supports business demands, that are resilient, secure and highly available
- Track the infrastructure requirements, and manage technical change, throughout the delivery life cycle
- Provide support with the resolution of operational incidents, and determine the root cause of the problem
- Schedule and actively manage business as usual changes within the IT infrastructure asset to deliver a best-in-class level of successful change
- Cross - team collaboration with upstream stake holders such as solution architects and IT strategy teams to ensure the IT infrastructure asset is delivered in line with the strategic roadmap
- Maintain timely and accurate communications with Project Managers throughout the delivery life cycle, to ensure the IT infrastructure risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies are correctly tracked
- Communicate the proposed design solutions to the stakeholders, and help to guide decisions regarding trade-offs that may impact the requirement or delivery timescales for infrastructure solutions
- Keep abreast of latest IT infrastructure technology trends and technologies to allow these to be levered to the business benefit of Cathay Pacific Airways
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key hardware and software vendors and delivery partners
- Develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives within own area in line with High Performing Team
- Take responsibility for implementation of technical part of plans, focusing on requirements and planning to meet or exceed internal client expectations
- Interface with other IT areas, sharing technical knowledge and expertise, and resolving issues as necessary, using specialist information to enable others to deliver
- Provide expert level support in area of technical specialization, ensuring prompt and accurate resolution of challenges
- Communicate the proposed design solutions to the stakeholders, and help to guide decisions regarding trade off that may impact the requirement or delivery timescales for infrastructure projects
- Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high level information into details and distinguish users’ requests from underlying business problems
- Show initiative and makes time available to ensure general technical competencies and specializations are kept up-to-date in line with industry developments for self and team
- Perform proactive maintenance such as oversee system performance, provide recommendations on proactive maintenance activities, manage application and infrastructure support service providers and vendors on performance monitoring and tuning, capacity planning and expansion, implementation of patches and hot fixes
- Work closely with upstream stakeholders such as solution architects and IT strategy teams to ensure the IT infrastructure asset is delivered aligning with the strategic roadmap
- Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high level information into details and distinguish user’s requests from the underlying business problems
Requirements
- Technical degree holder with minimum of 6 years IT experience, at least 3 years of IT Infrastructure experience
- Must have proven technical management and specialist experience of working in a complex IT infrastructure environment with ITIL standard
- Solid experience of developing solutions and making decisions for team with only minimal management guidance and supervision
- Ability to listen and articulate ideas verbally, and in the written form, to a broad range of audiences; ability to ask probing questions and deliver technical internal presentations
- Ability to work well with others and as part of a technical team
- Well-developed analytical, problem-solving, decision-making and critical thinking skills, leveraging both logic and creativity; strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills; ability to identify patterns and generate informed ideas
- Ability and willingness to proactively accept, and drive, change to accomplish positive outcomes
- Professional competency in at least one technical specialization, with broad understanding of other current and emerging technologies
SKILLS
- Solid hands-on technical skills in Multi-Cloud environment
- Hands-on experiences on Global Network deployment and design review
- Experiences on handling Multi-VRF, Dynamic routing network environment
- Experiences on interconnection between cloud and on premise in deployment and design review
- Experiences on handling and review traditional L4-7 Firewall
- Experiences on handling and review traditional L4-7 Load balancer
- Experiences on VPN solution (remote access, Site to Site, DMVPN) in deployment and design review
- Experiences on both WAN & LAN Troubleshooting
- Experiences incident, change, problem, and release management during the on-going system maintenance period with ITIL standard
- Experiences on ongoing proactive monitoring enhancement
- Experiences on network hardening or Security scanning
- Experiences on vendor management
- Knowledge in Software Define Network will be a plus
- Knowledge in different network protocol / application flow
- Knowledge in AAA framework
- Knowledge in 2 Factor authentication
Language
- Fluent in English would be a benefits
